The girls started dancing when they were three years old and dream of becoming professional dancers when they’re older. Today they learn ballet, tap, jazz acro, and hip hop with a Muskoka-based club.
Their tap teacher was the captain of a senior team at last year’s competition and they’ve had a lesson before under the junior team’s choreographer and audition judge. The team, which represents Ontario and Quebec, is comprised of 12 to 15 year olds .
The girls and their parents are now working on fundraising with a goal of $10,000 each to cover everything from meals, plane tickets, and accommodation out of country, but also for attending the weekly rehearsals in Mississauga that start in September. “For me it’s the joy that my daughter gets out of dance,” said Anne of going on to this high-priced competition. “And this is a huge opportunity to go over to Germany and represent our country. This is a career builder for sure.”
